CCENT 1 Exam March 14, 2009 Shawn Kuse (Vienna, Va.) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I have used Todd Lammle's books for several certification exams and I can attest to this book as another notch in that process. I passed my CCENT exam today with a 925 and I could not have done it without this book.
The other book that I used was Ciscos CCENT/CCNA ICND1 book written by Wendell Odem. This book and the free CD that comes with it closely resemble what the exam entails.
With that said, why buy Todd Lammle's book? Easy. Todd explains the Cisco concepts, theory, in understandable terms that you walk away with knowledge and not scratching you head saying, huh?
Now that I have taken a Cisco exam I know what to look for. I have both Todd Lammle's CCNA book and the Cisco CCENT\CCNA ICND2 for the second part of the certification exam.
Transcender was a waste of money in preparing for this exam. The free CD that comes with the Cisco Book has the Boson testing format and it was very helpful in taking the exam.
Excellent book for beginners December 23, 2008 Atulya Bhimarasetty (Dekalb, IL) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I have no prior networking knowledge nor am I a computer science student. When I started reading this book, all I had with me was my curiosity, interest and passion to study computer networking. I have never even thought of writing a Cisco certified exam until then. Todd Lammle does a wonderful job of explaining the fundamental concepts so well that someone even with a passing interest in computer networking will like his writing style and learn the subject with ease.
This book makes sure that the fundamental concepts like subnetting, routing, etc - which very important, are completely ingrained into your head. All you need with you is a little patience since there are a lot of topics covered - if you are newbie.
I studied this book, practiced subnetting like crazy and passed my CCENT exam. And not to mention, his other book, CCNA study guide is also excellent resource.
Get this book if you are newbie!
This book works, I passed first time through. July 13, 2009 Robert J. Wise (Fresno, CA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book was my #1 resource for passing the Cisco ICND1, 640-822 exam. Having never touched a router, other than at home to get DSL up, I went from zero knowledge to passing in a matter of three weeks. This book was well written. There are some typo's, so if you catch them (I found a good 5 or so) that's a great sign that you're understanding the material. This book and a router simulator are enough to pass, but it helps to also review the Cisco Press book for complete preparedness.
CCENT Study Guide September 6, 2009 Jason Collins (SW Oklahoma) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I did not actually take the CCENT exam, but I used this bookk as a preliminary study guide before I used Todd's CCNA Study guide. This book is AWESOME!! Pay close attention to Chapter 3 on subnetting - Todd has a unique method of not only teaching subnetting, but also utilizing those methods to make to make other CCNA objectives easier to comprehend. I would HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone stating their pursuit of Cisco Certifications!!
CCENT from Lammle December 10, 2009 CP 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I always love Lammle's books. I am still reading this but so far so good. Took the test and failed the first time, but it was completely my fault. I only missed by 15 points. The second take was much easier. Thanks Todd!
